Expect Whistleblower Suits, Patent Disputes In 2012

By Carolina Bolado (January 1, 2012, 12:00 AM EST) -- With clients now sitting on more cash and willing to fight disputes in court, litigation has been growing and shows no signs of slowing down in 2012 — particularly in the intellectual property, securities, energy, employment and health care fields, attorneys say.

In a recent Robert Half Legal Hiring Index released in September, 20 percent of attorneys polled said litigation would be the fastest-growing practice area in the coming months. Attorneys in the health care, labor and employment, and IP arenas are particularly in demand, Robert Half Legal Executive Director Charles Volkert said.
