The Patent Trial and Appeal Board has held that a podiatrist's patent application for a mixture used for such purposes as treating wounds wasn't derived from another inventor's work, in the second-ever decision stemming from a rarely used America Invents Act proceeding.

PTAB Launches Rare Derivation Review Over Stabilization IP
The Patent Trial and Appeal Board has agreed to hear its fifth-ever derivation proceeding, which looks at whether the first party to file for a patent ripped off another inventor.
