Md. Gov. Expected To Raise Estate Tax Exemption

Law360, New York (March 26, 2014, 2:00 PM EDT) -- Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley is expected to sign legislation that would bring the state's estate tax exemption — currently one of the lowest in the U.S. — in line with the federal revenue code in the next five years, a representative for the governor said Wednesday.

The proposal currently before the governor would gradually increase the level at which a decedent would be subject to the tax from $1 million to $4 million and then link it with the level set in the Internal Revenue Code...
