Archives Deny Request For Kavanaugh's Staff Secretary Docs

Law360, Washington (August 3, 2018, 5:52 PM EDT) -- The chances of Senate Democrats accessing the millions of pages of documents from D.C. Circuit Judge Brett Kavanaugh's time as White House staff secretary plummeted after the National Archives confirmed that such requests could only come from Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

U.S. Archivist David Ferriero sent a letter to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Thursday indicating that he would be unable to respond to the requests from the committee's ranking member, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., under the Presidential Records Act....
