Justices Pass On States' Asian Carp Fight With US

Law360, New York (February 27, 2012, 3:18 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court declined Monday to hear an attempt by Michigan and four other states to force the federal government to undertake measures to stop the migration of Asian carp into the Great Lakes.

The high court denied a petition for certiorari from Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota and Pennsylvania. The states had challenged the Seventh Circuit's decision to deny a preliminary injunction that would have required the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to close shipping locks that allow the invasive fish to enter the lakes,...
