US Envoy Lashes Out At Lax IPR in Taiwan

Law360 (October 19, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. envoy in Taiwan, Douglas Paal, has warned the government that a failure to protect intellectual property rights will lead to a loss of investments in the island, the South China Morning Post reported.

Paal criticized Taiwan's legislature and judicial systems, which he blamed for what he called regression in Taiwan's intellectual property rights protection efforts, according to the newspaper.
