Enhanced Recall Regulations Under CPSIA

Law360, New York (May 7, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008, which became law on Aug. 14, 2008, imposes a number of new requirements on consumer product manufacturers, distributors and retailers. The focus of this article is on the draft regulations proposed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on March 20, 2009, regarding guidelines and requirements for product recall notices.

These proposed regulations would apply to manufacturers (including importers), distributors and retailers of all consumer products and not just the “children’s products” otherwise more prevalently regulated under the act....
