Belgian Minister Calls Off AB InBev Payment Probe

Law360, New York (May 11, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Belgium's economic chief will reportedly drop an antitrust investigation into the pricing and payment practices of Belgian beer giant Anheuser-Busch InBev because preliminary inquiries have failed to turn up evidence that the company leveraged its market position to bully suppliers into accepting delayed payments.

“The competition authority conducted an informal probe, and the result of it was that they did not see infringements with respect to the Belgian competition law,” a spokesman for Economy Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne told the Wall Street Journal on Monday....
