White House Spotlights Chesapeake Bay Cleanup

Law360, New York (May 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an effort to restore Chesapeake Bay to health, the White House has created a federal committee charged with flexing regulatory powers and expediting the cleanup of the nation’s largest estuary.

President Obama issued an executive order Tuesday establishing a Federal Leadership Committee, which comprises seven federal agencies, headed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, with the goal of achieving pollution reductions that have consistently foiled regulatory efforts.
