Law360, New York (May 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A French court has ruled that eBay Inc. is not liable to L'Oreal SA for sales of counterfeit cosmetics on the auction site because it acts as a host rather than as a content publisher, a stark reversal from the more than $60 million in damages another French court awarded Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy SA in a similar case in 2008.
