Pharmacies Join Clamor Over CVS-Caremark Merger

Law360, New York (May 14, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of independent pharmacies has urged the Federal Trade Commission to revisit the 2007 merger that formed CVS Caremark Corp., on the heels of state lawmakers’ complaints to the agency that the pharmacy giant appears to be abusing its newly strengthened market power.

The National Community Pharmacist Association lent their voice Wednesday to a growing chorus of opposition against the CVS and Caremark consolidation, complaining to FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz that CVS is using higher copayments and confidential data to lure patients to its services....
