Fla. Supreme Court Elects New Chief Justice

Law360 (March 8, 2018, 6:25 PM EST) -- Justice Charles T. Canady has been elected chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court and will preside over the state court system through mid-2020, the court revealed Thursday.

The justices voted to elevate Justice Canady, who has served in all three branches of state government, to lead the high court. He will take over from current Chief Justice Jorge Labarga on July 1 and maintain the role until June 30, 2020.
