Law360 (March 13, 2018, 10:36 PM EDT) -- A former Fisher & Phillips LLP partner shot and killed his wealthy wife because his declining income left him hundreds of thousands of dollars in her debt and unable to maintain his lavish lifestyle, state prosecutors told an Atlanta jury during opening statements in his murder trial Tuesday.

Counsel for defendant Claud “Tex” McIver countered that the shooting, which took place in a vehicle, was an accident.
