Legal Industry Caps Off Sluggish Q1 With Small Jobs Gain

By Matthew Guarnaccia (April 6, 2018, 1:41 PM EDT) -- Despite a gain of 400 jobs in March, the legal services sector has struggled to pick back up after job losses recorded at the beginning of the year, finishing the first quarter with more than 1,000 fewer jobs than at the end of 2017, according to a report on Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The March increases brought the preliminary number of seasonally adjusted legal services jobs in the U.S. to 1,136,000, on par with the number recorded by the BLS in January. The industry has 1,100 fewer jobs now than it did in December and is well off...
