Product Safety In The Time Of Recession

Law360, New York (May 21, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- On April 20, 2009, the European Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, Meglena Kuneva, presented the latest report on the EC rapid alert system for nonfood consumer products (RAPEX).

The report showed that there were 1,545 alerts for dangerous consumer products within the RAPEX area during 2008, up from 1,355 during 2007, and that — as in previous years — the biggest category of notifications was toys with most notified products originating from China.
