UK Regulator Threatens Action Over Lawyers' PPI Fees

Law360, London (April 5, 2018, 6:49 PM BST) -- The regulator for solicitors in England and Wales issued a second warning to the legal industry on Thursday over the fees firms charge for payment protection insurance claims, cautioning that it might take action if it thought solicitors were acting unfairly.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority, which oversees law firms in England and Wales, said firms should not charge excessive fees for helping clients get their money back and should collect no more than a 15 percent slice of the award.
