Kroes Denies Personal Crusade Against Microsoft

Law360, New York (September 19, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Despite a history of legal wrangling between Microsoft Corp. and the European Commission, competition head Neelie Kroes has rejected the suggestion that she holds a personal grudge against the software giant.

"Far from pursuing a vendetta against Microsoft, the Commission's actions are guided by the desire to create the most innovation-friendly business climate in Europe to the ultimate benefit of European consumers," Commissioner Kroes wrote Tuesday in a letter published by the Financial Times.
