Samsung, SanDisk Reach Pivotal Deal Over Patents

Law360 (May 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a deal that heads off patent litigation, SanDisk Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. have reached key deals over flash memory and their semiconductor patent portfolios.

The flash memory production output agreement announced Wednesday means that Samsung will continue to make a guaranteed portion of its flash memory production output available to SanDisk.

The two companies also agreed to renew the cross license of their semiconductor patent portfolios.

The long-negotiated agreements become effective when the current cross license and supply agreements expire on Aug. 14...
