UnitedHealth, HCA Square Off In Colorado Court

Law360 (September 19, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Health care giant HCA Inc. is using its market dominance in the Denver area as leverage to force health insurance company UnitedHealth Group Inc. to pay unreasonably high rates, said an antitrust complaint filed Monday.

Because of HCA’s market presence, as well as the company’s hospital and billing practices, some of HCA’s services cost 20% more than similar services from other area providers, according to the complaint filed on behalf of UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company, United Healthcare of Colorado Inc., Pacificare Health Plan Administrators Inc. and PacifiCare...
