Senate Subcommittee Chair Wants IRS Overhaul Before Break

Law360, Washington (May 16, 2018, 7:31 PM EDT) -- The slew of bills passed by the U.S. House of Representatives that would overhaul operations at the Internal Revenue Service should be prioritized and passed before the August recess, the chairman of the Senate Finance Taxation and IRS Oversight Subcommittee told Law360 on Wednesday.

The IRS overhaul bills, which were passed unanimously by the House last month, should be prioritized by the committee, along with the confirmation of Charles Rettig as the next IRS commissioner, said the subcommittee chairman, Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio.
