Russia Watchdog To Propose New Antitrust Department

Law360, New York (September 20, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Russia’s antimonopoly authority is taking steps to create an antitrust department at the Interior Ministry as the country becomes more seriously involved in combating competition law violations.

The Federal Antitrust Service (FAS), the executive agency in charge of preventing monopolistic abuse in Russia, is also working with the Economics Ministry and the Interior Ministry to draft amendments to the criminal code in order to regulate accountability for breaches of antitrust law.
