Nev. Gov. Nixes CBA, Wage Bills For Public Workers

Law360, New York (June 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The veto battle between Nevada's Republican governor, Jim Gibbons, and the state's Democrat-dominated Legislature rages on, as two bills attempting to give public employees collective bargaining power and set industry-specific preliminary wage limits become the latest victims of the executive ax.

Gibbons announced Thursday that he would not sign off on two bills approved by Nevada's Legislature, blasting both bills for attempting to increase government spending as the state continues to suffer from plunging tax revenues and slowed growth during the recession.
