Pretrial Motions Open in China Trade Secrets Case

Law360, New York (October 20, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge is scheduled to hear pretrial motions Monday in a trial against two men accused of stealing high-tech trade secrets on behalf of the government of China, the Associated Press reported.

The motions will include arguments by the defendants' attorneys to dismiss the case. They claim the men were merely carrying "the materials that any engineer would take and use as reference materials" when they were arrested at the airport in November 2001.
