Suez, Gaz de France Make Offer To Appease E.C.

Law360, New York (September 21, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an effort to obtain antitrust approval of their merger from the European Commission, Suez and Gaz de France have offered to create a new company containing parts of both, which could then be sold to a third party.

The E.C. is concerned that the merger of the two companies could diminish competition in the natural gas and electricity markets in Belgium, and the natural gas and heating network markets in France.
