Senate Battle Lies Ahead For FDA Nominee

Law360, New York (September 21, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- President Bush's pick to lead the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has finally won approval from a crucial Senate committee, but doubt lingers over whether he can win confirmation from the full Senate.

On Wednesday, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee endorsed the nomination of Andrew von Eschenbach, who has been serving as the acting FDA commissioner since last year.
