W.Va. Chief Justice Ordered Off Massey Appeal

Law360, New York (June 8, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a case with broad ramifications for perceived or actual judicial bias, the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ordered West Virginia Supreme Court Chief Justice Brent D. Benjamin to recuse himself from the appeal of a $50 million fraud verdict against A.T. Massey Coal Co. Inc., his biggest campaign contributor.
