US Chamber Study Blasts EFCA As Undemocratic

Law360 (June 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- If enacted, the Employee Free Choice Act would dramatically change existing labor laws to the detriment of employees and employers alike, according to a report released Tuesday by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Currently awaiting a U.S. Senate vote, the latest version of the bill contains three provisions that pose a “radical threat” to existing labor laws, including requiring card check certification for union organizing, compulsory interest arbitration of first contracts and increased penalties on employers, the report says.
