Eddie Bauer Could File For Ch. 11: Report

Law360 (June 10, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Four years after it emerged from the bankruptcy of its former parent Spiegel Inc. as an independent company, Eddie Bauer Holdings Inc. is reportedly close to filing for bankruptcy itself.

The Bellevue, Wash.-based clothing store chain could file for Chapter 11 protection by the end of the week, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing anonymous sources.

The company is exploring a possible quick sale of its assets under Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, rather than a reorganization, the paper reported.
