OECD Tax Treaty To Go Into Force, Altering Landscape

Law360 (June 27, 2018, 8:13 PM EDT) -- An international treaty to curb abuses of the corporate tax system will go into effect Sunday, three months after five countries ratified it, triggering its enactment.

A treaty that takes effect Sunday comprises parts of the OECD's Base Erosion and Profit Shifting project, which targets corporate tax avoidance. (AP)

The agreement comprises parts of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's Base Erosion and Profit Shifting project. The U.S., while supportive of the project, has not signed onto the treaty. The multilateral instrument amends hundreds of bilateral tax treaties, including new language arising from the BEPS project.
