Schott Agrees To $1.5M Settlement In Sex Bias Suit

Law360, New York (June 10, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Schott North America Inc. is set to fork over nearly $1.5 million to settle a discrimination suit alleging that the company fired several female workers because of their sex.

The deal, announced Wednesday by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, would lay to rest a suit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania claiming that Schott — which manufactures glass and specialty materials, components and systems — laid off the women after a company reorganization in October 2004 of its specialty...
