Mulvaney Elevates Top Adviser To Acting CFPB Deputy
Law360 (July 9, 2018, 8:54 PM EDT) -- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau acting Director Mick Mulvaney said Monday that he’s picked a senior adviser to take over for Leandra English, the outgoing deputy director who vied with Mulvaney for the top slot at the consumer watchdog agency.
Mulvaney has selected Brian Johnson, principal policy director at the CFPB, to serve as acting deputy director, according to a statement from the agency. Johnson, whom Mulvaney said was his first hire at the agency and an “indispensable adviser,” came to the CFPB last year from the House Financial Services Committee, where he was an aide to its chairman, Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas....
