Recruiter's Suit Against Orrick Allowed To Proceed

Law360, New York (June 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has refused to throw out a recruiting company's suit against Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP alleging that the firm refused to pay an agreed-upon $450,000 placement fee after hiring three attorneys recommended by the recruiter.

Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida ruled Thursday that Steven Douglas Associates Inc. had sufficiently alleged that Orrick breached a contract with SDA and denied the firm's motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim.
