EU Proposes Tighter Rules On Biocides

Law360, New York (June 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has proposed draft legislation to increase the safety of biocides, in the wake of an epidemic of injuries caused by an anti-mold agent on furniture imported from China.

If adopted, the new legislation would introduce rules on articles not covered by existing biocide regulations and phase out some substances — particularly carcinogens, the European Commission said in a statement.
