Lloyd's Failing Hawaii Policyholders After Volcano, Suit Says

Law360 (July 25, 2018, 8:48 PM EDT) -- Lloyd’s of London has been missing in action after the historic eruption of Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano destroyed hundreds of homes, failing to dispatch a single claims adjuster and leaving policyholders utterly in the dark about the status of their claims, according to a suit filed Tuesday.

Philip and Lanell Haysmer's “dream home” burned down on May 2 in Kilauea’s devastating eruption, which is still ongoing. The couple submitted a claim with Lloyd’s later that same month under their homeowners' policy, but haven’t received any substantive information from the insurer since, according to Tuesday’s complaint.
