Microsoft Suit Targets 'Click Fraud'

Law360, New York (June 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. has hit three individuals with a breach-of-contract suit over an alleged “click fraud” scheme the technology giant says tampered with its sponsored search engine results and sapped revenue from its online advertisers.

In a lawsuit filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, Microsoft claims the defendants clicked on sponsored links in an attempt to thwart their competitors and purchase advertising from Microsoft at a reduced rate.
