Visa Escapes Credit Card Text Notification Suit

Law360, New York (June 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Visa Inc. has been let go from a lawsuit alleging that it infringed a patent-holding company’s technology for sending real-time text messages whenever cardholders require credit authorization.

Judge Daniel T.K. Hurley of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida signed off Tuesday on a request by Calabrese Stemer LLC and license holder Charge Notification Services Corp. to dismiss the suit without prejudice, less than four months after the complaint was filed.
