Obama Taps IBM Bigwig To Head USPTO

Law360, New York (June 18, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The man who has overseen the management of IBM Corp.'s intellectual property assets will soon be leaving his post for a new job in Washington, where he is set to head the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

President Barack Obama announced his intent on Thursday to nominate David J. Kappos, currently IBM’s vice president and assistant general counsel, as the USPTO’s director and undersecretary of commerce for intellectual property.
