Cement Makers' Offices Raided In South Africa

Law360, New York (June 25, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Following in the footsteps of the European Union and others, South African competition authorities have raided the offices of some of the biggest cement producers amid suspicions that the group has conspired to fix market prices.

On Thursday, the South African Competition Commission launched a coordinated search of the premises of the country's main cement producers, including Pretoria Portland Cement Co., Lafarge Industries South Africa, AfriSam Consortium Pty. Ltd. and Natal Portland Cement Cimpor Pty. Ltd.
