Green Group Blasts TVA Report On Ash Spill

Law360, New York (June 26, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Tennessee Valley Authority has unveiled a study it commissioned that blames last year's billion-gallon fly-ash spill near Kingston, Tenn., on a unique combination of chance and environmental factors, drawing criticism from environmentalists who say TVA is trying to minimize its own liability.

TVA said Thursday that it has accepted the report it commissioned in January from geoengineering firm Aecom on the causes of the spill last December from a fly-ash storage pond at the energy company's Kingston Fossil Plant.
