Del. Slaps Valero With $86K Fine Over Emissions

Law360, New York (June 30, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Delaware officials have fined a Valero Energy Corp. subsidiary more than $86,000 over emissions from an oil refinery that violated the state's air pollution code.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced the fine Monday, saying Premcor Refining Group Inc. violated rules governing the use of flares to burn waste gas from its oil refinery operation.

Premcor, which was acquired by Valero in 2005, must pay a cash penalty of $75,000 and a further $11,250 in costs to reimburse the DDNREC for costs...
