Court Mandates Repair Schedule For Detroit Sewers

Law360, New York (June 30, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Noting that a recent inspection revealed indications of future problems, a federal judge has mandated a schedule for the repair and rehabilitation of sewage infrastructure serving two Detroit-area counties, where the system has already experienced four collapse incidents since the mid-1970s.

Judge John Feikens issued the order Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan imposing the repair schedule for certain portions of the interceptor sewer systems in Oakland and Macomb counties.
