Apple Computer Sues China's Trademark Appraisal Committee

Law360, New York (March 10, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Apple Computer is taking China’s trademark appraisal committee to court after the agency rejected Apple's request for trademark on its logo on a range of clothing.

Apple's request was denied because Apple's logo is similar to that of the Guangdong Apples Industrial Co. for its clothing, which is also trademarked, the trademark appraisal committee ruled last year.

Guangdong Apples' trademark of an apple logo was authorized by the trademark bureau under the State Administration for Industry and Commerce in 1998, according to China Daily.
