Canada Justice Dept. Atty Joins Baker McKenzie's Tax Group

Law360 (October 23, 2018, 8:43 PM EDT) -- Baker McKenzie announced Tuesday that a former tax attorney with the Canadian Justice Department joined the firm's North America tax practice in Toronto.

Amit Ummat worked for the Canadian Justice Department for 10 years dealing with tax controversies, and according to a statement on his move, actively litigated multiple cases in the Tax Court and Supreme Court of Canada. When asked why he joined Baker McKenzie, Ummat pointed to the firm's stellar reputation.
