Fla. Judge Recommends Tossing Venezuela Bribery Suit

Law360 (November 6, 2018, 6:40 PM EST) -- A Florida magistrate judge has concluded that the litigation trust set up by Venezuela's state-owned oil company to bring a suit over an alleged bribery scheme does not have standing to pursue the claims, and she recommended that they be dismissed.

On Monday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Alicia Otazo-Reyes sided with defendants who said the litigation trust set up by PDVSA does not have standing, because the Venezuelan legislature never approved its contract to pursue the claims and said the case should be tossed.
