CFTC Considers Limits On Energy Trading

Law360, New York (July 7, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is considering limits on trading and other measures to clamp down on excessive speculation, the head of the agency announced Tuesday.

Gary Gensler, chairman of the CFTC, said in a statement that the agency would conduct a series of hearings during July and August, the first of which would focus on whether federal speculative limits should be set to all commodities of finite supply, including energy commodities.
