For CFTC, 2018 Was One Of The 'Most Vigorous' In Its History

Law360 (November 15, 2018, 12:01 AM EST) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission broke new ground in its enforcement this past year, with the largest number of market manipulation cases ever brought and the most cases involving parallel criminal charges, the agency announced on Wednesday.

In addition to those metrics, the agency’s annual enforcement report released on Wednesday night showed the last fiscal year saw the CFTC bring 83 actions, the third highest number ever, and an annual penalty haul of over $897 billion, the fourth largest in the agency’s history.
