Commission Extends Probe Into Microsoft's Vista

Law360 (October 2, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- European antitrust regulators have widened their investigation into Microsoft Corp.’s Vista operating system after learning of the software giant’s plans to use encryption and handwriting recognition software in its upcoming product, according to a Financial Times report Monday.

The regulators have grown concerned after complaints from a string of software security companies claimed Microsoft’s bundling of these new security features into Vista will ultimately harm their security products, the newspaper said.
