Fed. Circ. Backs HTC Win In Challenge To Acacia Video Patent

Law360 (December 6, 2018, 6:55 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit on Thursday refused to revive an Acacia Research Corp. unit’s video compression patent that had been successfully challenged by HTC Corp., leaving in place the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s decision that the patent is invalid.

In a nonprecedential, one-line order without an opinion, the three-judge panel affirmed the PTAB’s decision from last year, which nixed Parthenon Unified Memory Architecture LLC’s patent for being obvious and anticipated in light of earlier inventions.
