Fed. Circ. Upholds PTAB's Axing Of Inventory Tech Patent

Law360 (December 10, 2018, 8:47 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit on Monday upheld a decision finding an inventory restocking technology patent invalid because it covers only an abstract idea, rejecting arguments the patent wasn’t eligible for the America Invents Act’s covered business method review program.

The appeals court issued a summary order affirming the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s 2017 decision invalidating claims in Unisone Strategic IP Inc.’s patent. The patent was challenged by Life Technologies Corp. after it was accused of infringement.
