Tomar, 3M Spinoff Settle $6.75M Traffic Patent Spat

Law360, New York (July 16, 2009, 1:15 PM EDT) -- After claiming a $6.75 million patent judgment would send it into bankruptcy, Tomar Electronics Inc. has dropped its appeal and settled an infringement dispute with plaintiff Global Traffic Technologies LLC over traffic preemption systems for emergency vehicles.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit signed off on the dismissal of Tomar's motion July 9. Each side will pay its own costs, and the terms of the deal remain confidential, Tomar said in a statement.
